About Us
J&J Investment Properties is a boutique real estate investment company that operates a portfolio of multifamily and mixed-use assets in the Capital Region of New York State. In 2011, founders John Corallo and Justin Schmiemann (collectively, “J&J”), identified favorable trends within the off-campus student housing market in Albany, NY, and acquired, renovated, and stabilized a portfolio of 40+ multi-family properties focused on providing off-campus housing to the students at the University of Albany.
Upon refinancing the student housing portfolio in 2020, J&J leveraged its experience and network to build a non-student multifamily and mixed-use portfolio through the acquisition of numerous 6-20 unit buildings in the Capital Region.

Meet the Founders
Justin Schmiemann
Born in Carle Place, NY, Justin Schmiemann graduated with honors from Quinnipiac University in 2009 with a degree in finance. Upon graduation, Justin began his career working in leveraged finance where he structured and underwrote private equity sponsored middle market leveraged buyouts for various banks in NYC for over 10 years, while he simultaneously built J&J Investment Properties. Justin’s role at J&J focuses on sourcing and acquiring new properties, leasing, marketing, maintaining bank relationships, and the general operations of the portfolio. Justin maintains a seat as a board member for a Texas based private equity firm, and is actively involved in investing J&J’s capital into new ventures.
